PrestaShop

Selling to Dutch and Belgian businesses? Let them type a VAT number and the rest fills itself in.

The module checks the VAT number the way customers actually type it (with or without country code, spaces or dots), first offline and then with the EU VAT register (VIES). For Dutch and Belgian companies it fills in the registered company name and address. Dutch addresses come from postcode + house number (PDOK, the Dutch government address register); Belgian streets are suggested from the postcode (BeST), in Dutch or French. All of this works without any API key or extra subscription.

Customers are never punished for a slow government service: when VIES is down, the order goes through and the number is flagged for you. Nothing the customer typed is overwritten without asking, and every filled field stays editable.

For Dutch B2B shops, the module can also look up the KvK number (Dutch Chamber of Commerce) with your own KvK API key. Try it first in the free KvK test environment.

Optional reverse charge: the module can take over PrestaShop’s “VAT number management” so that only VIES-valid business numbers of other EU countries get 0 % VAT, instead of any number typed in the field.

In the back office you see the VAT and KvK status on every customer and order, a log that explains each lookup in plain words, a “Test” button for each service, and the KvK calls of the month.

  • VAT check with VIES for all EU countries, offline checksum first (NL post-2020 numbers included)
  • Autofill of company name and address from VIES for NL and BE
  • Free Dutch postcode + house number lookup (PDOK), with addition picker and manual entry
  • Free Belgian street suggestions and address check (BeST), Dutch/French street names
  • Optional KvK number lookup with your own key; free test environment
  • Never blocks checkout when VIES is down: accept and flag (or reject “not registered”, your choice)
  • Optional reverse charge: 0 % VAT only for VIES-valid EU business numbers
  • VAT/KvK status, date and VIES request identifier on customer and order
  • Lookup log with plain-language reasons, connection test per service, KvK call counter
  • Server-side re-check on every address save and order; works for guest checkout and the address book
  • Classic and Hummingbird themes, four-step checkout and PrestaShop 9’s one-page checkout
  • Accessible: keyboard-operable suggestion lists, no premature error messages
  • Storefront in Dutch, French, German and English; back office in English, Dutch, German and French
  • Multistore: settings per shop

[Price: one-time €69.99 + Business Care €1.67/month, or €97.99 + €2.33/month: owner decides at listing, P-02/P-18.] One purchase covers the whole module, including KvK lookup; there is no licence key and no locked feature. Addons sells it as a one-time purchase, with no trial: Addons’ own refund rules apply (P-15). Updates and support follow [Business Care / the Addons support period].

  1. Modules → Module Manager → Upload a module → codesaurcompanyautofill-<version>.zip. Install (it enables itself).
  2. Open Configure, click Test for each service.
  3. Optional: KvK test environment, or your own key (guide on the configuration page); reverse charge.

Requirements: PrestaShop 8.0 – 9.x, PHP 8.1+, outgoing HTTPS. Uninstall removes the module’s tables and settings and gives PrestaShop’s VAT number management back as it was.

  • Test connection: a “Test” button per service (VIES, PDOK, BeST, KvK), live, with the saved settings.
  • Settings per shop (multistore): VAT check and “not registered” policy, autofill fields, NL/BE lookups, postcode format, KvK mode (off / test / production) + key (never shown again) + field + full address, rate limits, lookup log + retention, reverse charge, endpoints and timeout.
  • KvK: your own API key: where to order it, what it costs, where to paste it, how to test it, and the KvK calls of the month (free number lookups and paid profile calls with their cost).
  • Lookup log: the last 50 lookups (or only the problems) with masked input and the reason in plain words.
  • VAT / KvK check card on the customer page (per address) and on the order page (copied at order time): status, date, source, VIES request identifier, KvK number.
  • Support: “Copy diagnostics” (see below), troubleshooting.

The KvK does not allow a shared API key, and KvK data may not be passed between shops. That is why KvK lookups use your own KvK API subscription (€6.20 per month at the KvK in October 2026, possibly per API; looking up a number is free, the optional full address costs €0.02 per lookup). The configuration has a step-by-step guide: where to order the key, what it costs, where to paste it, and a button to test it. Without a key the KvK field stays hidden; VAT, postcode and street lookups work as normal. KvK results are cached only in your own shop.

Only the number or postcode is sent: the VAT number to VIES, postcode and house number to PDOK, postcode and street to BeST, the KvK number to the KvK. All calls go from your shop server; the storefront loads no third-party scripts. Your KvK key is stored on the server and never sent to the browser. The lookup log stores inputs masked and deletes them after 30 days (configurable, at most 180 days).

We support the module, not your hosting or server setup. Ask your question through the Addons messaging of your order. In the module configuration, open the Support panel, click Copy diagnostics and paste the text into your message: it shows the module, PrestaShop and PHP versions, the health of each service and the last failed lookups (masked); it never contains your API key or full customer numbers.

  • Every “Test” fails: your server cannot reach the internet over HTTPS (firewall, proxy or outgoing-traffic block). Ask your hosting provider to allow outgoing HTTPS.
  • “Could not be checked” for a VAT number: VIES or the national register is busy. The customer can continue; the number is flagged.
  • No postcode or street suggestions: check that the NL/BE address options are on and clear the cache (Advanced parameters > Performance).
  • No KvK field: KvK lookup is off, or production mode has no API key.
  • “Too many lookups”: raise the lookups per visitor per minute or per day.

No. VIES, PDOK and BeST are free public services. Only the KvK lookup needs your own KvK API key; the KvK test environment works without one.

The Netherlands and Belgium: VAT check with company autofill, Dutch postcode + house number lookup and Belgian street suggestions. The VAT check itself works for every EU VAT number.

The customer can continue. The order and the customer are marked “could not be checked”, and you see it on the order, on the customer and in the lookup log.

Only if you switch on the VAT exemption (reverse charge) for valid intra-EU business customers. It is off by default. You decide the VAT treatment of your sales.

Not for the plugins you install on your own server (Shopware, WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop): they talk directly to the public services. The hosted apps (Shopify, Lightspeed) run on our server in the EU, as your processor. See external services and the privacy policy.
