Shopware 6
What it does
Section titled “What it does”Selling to Dutch and Belgian businesses? Let them type a VAT number and the rest fills itself in.
The plugin checks the VAT number the way customers actually type it (with or without country code, spaces or dots), first offline and then with the EU VAT register (VIES). For Dutch and Belgian companies it fills in the registered company name and address. Dutch addresses come from postcode + house number (PDOK, the Dutch government address register), Belgian streets are suggested from the postcode (BeST). All of this works without any API key or extra subscription.
Customers are never punished for a slow government service: when VIES is down, the order goes through and the customer is flagged for you to check. Nothing the customer typed is overwritten without asking, and every filled field stays editable.
For Dutch B2B shops, the plugin can also look up the KvK number (Dutch Chamber of Commerce) with your own KvK API key. Try it first in the KvK test environment, at no cost; live lookups are the optional KvK live upgrade inside the plugin.
In the administration you see the VAT and KvK status on every customer and order, a log that explains each lookup in plain words, and a “Test connection” button for each service.

€4.95 per month for everything: VAT check, autofill, NL postcode, BE streets, admin tools and KvK test mode. KvK live lookups are an in-app upgrade, KvK live, for €3.00 per month on top (€7.95 per month in total). You buy it from the plugin’s configuration when you need it, it is billed with your Shopware invoice, and you can cancel it any time. Without it nothing is deleted: your KvK key and settings stay, live lookups just pause.
Install
Section titled “Install”- Upload the zip in Extensions → My extensions → Upload extension (or put it in
custom/pluginsand runbin/console plugin:refresh). - Install and activate. Compile the theme if your shop does not do so automatically
(
bin/console theme:compile). - Open the configuration and click Test connection for each service.
Requirements: Shopware 6.6.9+ or 6.7 (in-app purchases, DECISIONS D-39), PHP as required by Shopware. KvK live mode is the in-app upgrade kvk-live; test mode and everything else work without it. No Composer dependencies beyond Shopware.
Configure
Section titled “Configure”- Settings per sales channel (Extensions → My extensions → VAT & Company Autofill → Configure), with a Test connection button per service and a step-by-step “get your own KvK key” guide with the KvK calls per month.
- A VAT/KvK status card on the customer and the order (status, date, source, VIES request identifier).
- A lookup log (Settings → Extensions → NL/BE lookup log) with the reason for each result in plain words.
- A Copy diagnostics button (Support card in the configuration) for support mails, without keys.
- Outage policy: a VIES outage is accepted and flagged, never a blocked customer. “Not registered” can be set to reject. Server-side re-check on registration and address changes; client flags are never trusted.
KvK: your own API key
Section titled “KvK: your own API key”The KvK (Dutch Chamber of Commerce) does not allow a shared API key, and KvK data may not be passed between shops. That is why KvK lookups use your own KvK API subscription (€6.20 per month at the KvK in October 2026, possibly per API; looking up a number is free, the optional full address costs €0.02 per lookup). The configuration contains a step-by-step guide: where to order the key, what it costs, where to paste it, and a button to test it before saving. Without a key, the KvK field is simply hidden; VAT, postcode and street lookups work as normal. KvK results are cached only in your own shop.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”Only the number or postcode is sent: the VAT number to VIES, postcode and house number to PDOK, postcode and street to BeST, the KvK number to the KvK. All calls go from your shop server; the storefront loads no third-party scripts and sets no cookies. Your KvK key is stored on the server and never sent to the browser. The lookup log stores inputs masked and deletes them after 30 days (configurable, at most 180 days).
Support
Section titled “Support”We support the plugin, not your hosting or server setup. Need help? In the plugin configuration, open the Support card, click Copy diagnostics and paste the text into your support request. It shows the plugin, Shopware and PHP versions, the health of each service, and the last failed lookups (masked); it never contains your API key or full customer numbers.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Every “Test connection” fails: your server cannot reach the internet over HTTPS (firewall, proxy or outgoing-traffic block). Ask your hosting provider to allow outgoing HTTPS.
- “Could not be checked” for a VAT number: VIES or the national register is busy. The customer can continue; the number is flagged and can be checked again later.
- No postcode or street suggestions: check that the NL/BE address options are on, compile the theme
(
bin/console theme:compile) and clear the cache. - No KvK field: KvK mode is off, or live mode is chosen without the KvK live upgrade.
- “Too many lookups”: raise the limits per minute or per day in the configuration.
Do I need an API key?
Section titled “Do I need an API key?”No. VIES, PDOK and BeST are free public services. Only the KvK lookup needs your own KvK API key; the KvK test environment works without one.
Which countries are supported?
Section titled “Which countries are supported?”The Netherlands and Belgium: VAT check with company autofill, Dutch postcode + house number lookup and Belgian street suggestions. The VAT check itself works for every EU VAT number.
What happens when VIES is down?
Section titled “What happens when VIES is down?”The customer can continue. The order and the customer are marked “could not be checked”, and you see it on the order, on the customer and in the lookup log.
Does it change my tax settings?
Section titled “Does it change my tax settings?”Only if you switch on the VAT exemption (reverse charge) for valid intra-EU business customers. It is off by default. You decide the VAT treatment of your sales.
Is my customers’ data sent to codesaur?
Section titled “Is my customers’ data sent to codesaur?”Not for the plugins you install on your own server (Shopware, WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop): they talk directly to the public services. The hosted apps (Shopify, Lightspeed) run on our server in the EU, as your processor. See external services and the privacy policy.
